Interim Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment
Interim Policy on Title IX Sexual Harassment
Effective September 1, 2023
This policy applies to Title IX Sexual Harassment alleged on or after August 14, 2020. Allegations prior to this date are governed by the policy in place at that time. Individuals can contact the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance for support, regardless of whether they wish to proceed with the Complaint Resolution Process.
This policy includes three categories of misconduct on the basis of sex that occur within the University's education programs or activities: quid pro quo harassment by an employee; severe, pervasive and objectively offensive unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature; and Sexual Assault, Dating Violence, Domestic Violence, or Stalking as defined under the Clery Act and VAWA.
While Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ prohibits all forms of discrimination and harassment, including sexual misconduct, this policy applies only to Sexual Harassment under Title IX. Discriminatory and/or harassing conduct falling outside of the purview of this policy is addressed under the University's Policy on Discrimination, Harassment, and Sexual Misconduct. Other forms of misconduct may be addressed if prohibited or governed by other Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵ policies outlined in the Student Handbook, Faculty Handbook and Staff Handbook.
This policy does not apply to Sexual Harassment by visitors or guests, or to misconduct occurring outside the U.S., even in University programs like study abroad.
